Great backcountry experience for the family! This is a top notch operator. They picked us up from home is a very nice shuttle, brought us up the Piney Lake rd to get situated. Best time, great memories We had a wonderful time with Nathan as our guide. He was funny, patient, knowledgeable, very helpful and attentive to my parents. Great trip with the kids We took our kids and family on this tour after our wedding in Vail, and what a great time. A little pricey, but I get the upkeep on the machines is expensive. Mark Boutin: Best Guide For this being my third time on a snowmobile tour, going in I had somewhat of an idea of what to expect. Boy was my mind blown... right from the start, we are met with a big smile and an ambitious personality none other than Mark Boutin. After he picked us up from the parking lot, no more than 5 seconds in to the shuttle ride, this man who I have never met before in my life made it seem as if I have known him my entire life! Such a personable, happy guy who expresses his love for the outdoors, and has immense passion in his profession. We haven’t even gotten to the tour yet! To start the tour he gives an in depth, fun, yet serious explanation of the machine. Once he assures we have no questions, we are on our way. The beginning of the tour he acquired a feel for the skill level and comfort of our group. Safety being his number one priority, he determines the safest yet most adventurous and beautiful trails to take. He stops at points he knows like the back of his hand that are beautiful and lively. He gives us educational info on the types of wildlife in the area and the tracks they make so that we can define (on our tour) the types of wildlife that has crossed or been through that area. This trip was nothing short of amazing. Every trail we took warmed my heart and made the inner kid in me come alive. As a Floridian who has come out every spring to visit family for about 12 years straight now, No other trip like this has left me with such joy. For those who take the time to read this, and even if Mark were to read this. I want to thank him and advise anyone in the area or anyone taking a trip out there to choose Mark Boutin as your guide. He is the man and made this trip something special and something I will remember for life. I could go on and on about this trip and the amazing man who took us through the incredible backcountry. Snowmobile adventure This was such a great addition on our trip to Vail! The staff was amazing and our guide Chris was patient and beyond helpful. He was very kind and offered to take so many pictures with our phones of our families so we could save these memories. The whole family enjoyed every thing from the ride of the snow mobile, the breath taking views and of course the break in between for some hot chocolate and treats! An Experience of a Lifetime! As a first time visitor to Vail, I had no idea what snowmobiling would entail. However, Paul our guide gave us EXCEPTIONAL service and made the pick up, waiver signing, equipment getting, tour and drop off MARVELOUS. He is super personable and passionate about what he does. He truly made our day. The company in general has employed the most enthusiastic and polite people in the world. The services, amenities, hot chocolate, brownies, Apple cider and cookies in a warm heated tent half way through was an added plus. The trail and the grounds were VERY well kept and a sight to see. Don’t miss this on your next winter trip to Vail.

Snow machine trip We went up with Greg and the trip was awesome. The service was top-notch and we had a great time. I would request Greg specifically. We even saw a bull moose at the top of the mountain.

Adrenaline pumping experience good for the whole family! We are a family of 5 with 3 kids 16, 14 and 10. We had a blast riding the snowmobiles and felt always safe with our tour guide. This is a 2 hour tour through the mountain with some breaks along the way. If your kids want to do something very exciting other than skiing this is highly recommended.

Best Snowmobile tour This tour was the best snow mobile tour I’ve ever been on. Conveniently located just outside of vail village. A must if you visit Vail! The stop at the yurt for warm drinks was cool. The scenery is unmatched. Driving through the trees in the woods was my favorite part. Nathan was a great tour guide! 100% recommend!

Awesome Adventure with Vail Backcountry Tours I managed to book a trip on the same day, Jan 8, 2021. And I chose Vail Backcountry Tours based on other reviews. And they did not disappoint. My husband and I were picked up at the hotel with some other adventurers.

This was my first time snowmobiling and I hope it won't be my last. Bo, our guide, was the best. Not only was he funny, but he was also one of the coolest guides I've ever met. He did everything to ensure everyone's safety and also that we all had a good time. He was very personable. It felt like talking to someone you've known for years rather than someone you just met.

The scenery was incredible. So I'm glad we made some stops for pictures. And we also had some time to rest and warm up with hot drinks like coffee, tea, and apple cider along with cookies. There were charging stations to recharge phones there as well.

I only wish I had chosen a longer trip or had been able to take another one before leaving Vail. So, if you're in the area, check them out and book early.

This is a MUST DO if you come to Vail. We enjoyed a fabulous tour with Nathan Guild, who is a Professional Backcountry Guide. This is a first class operation. They pick you up at your hotel, get you dressed properly, and show you an awesome time. The machines are all new and in perfect working order. The snack/lunch break in the Yert was a total hit for everyone in the family. Great organization.

Don’t hesitate to book this tour! This was such a great experience — just the right balance of thrills and scenery. Greg was our guide, and he was friendly, knowledgeable, and patient with the varied experience levels in our group. The trail was well maintained (but not so well that it wasn’t fun), and it as clear the equipment was as well. Two thumbs up — HIGHLY recommend!

Must try! My husband and I had a wonderful experience on our two hour snowmobling tour. It was our first time and we would absolutely do it again.
PLEASE review your sale receipt before leaving. Our gratitude was based off the entire sale, which included taxes and accidentals. The gratitude should have only been based on the snowmobile price. This company is racking up on extra funds if you do not bring it to their attention. Once you do bring it to their attention, they have no problem returning the funds to your card. I'm still waiting.

The Snowmobile tour is absolutely great After having completed the reservation, the pickup time was on time, the registration went smoothly and so was the tutorial on operating the snowmobile. Our guide, Beau, was attentive all the time, a great host. All the gear provided by the tour company is in good working order. The trails are safe for first timers and the landscape is awesome. Snowmobiling AWESOMENESS in VAIL My family was in Vail visiting for a ski trip and we decided to take one day off the skis and hit the backcountry trails on snowmobiles with Vail Backcountry Tours. They are AMAZING!!! We chose them because they made everything super easy from start to finish. They picked us up, got us situated on some brand new machines, provided an AWESOME tour of the slopes and trails across from Vail Mountain and delivered us back home with everyone smiling. Great Snowmobiling Experience My husband and I went on the Vail Back Country tour with Greg. It was our first time snowmobiling and it was so much fun! The Scenery was beautiful and the stop at the Yurt was nice for a hot drink and snack. Greg made our tour simply by being so knowledgeable but also a nice, fun guy! Our experience was awesome!

Exceptional FIVE STARS are not enough. Vail Backcounty Tours was by far the highlight of our trip. From booking to arranging for transportation to the actual snow mobiles themselves- outstanding. Halfway through the tour you get a break for warm drinks and sweet treats (they even have a charging station for phones). Our guide Nathan Guild made our experience exceptional. Amazing Views and Tour I absolutely loved this tour. We were in heaven. Greg was an amazing tour guide. He was friendly and catered to everyone’s need during the tour. I highly recommend them. Fantastic Experience - Highly Recommended Great outing, transportation from the hotel was provided and quick and easy. Once we suited up (bring ski goggles and a neck gaiter if you have them) we were ready to roll. Most from my group borrowed bibs and boots, and brought their own shells and insulation layers.

We did an afternoon tour, and rode back in the dark with headlights which was awesome. The sleds seem new and are very nice, and the tour guides are great. This was the highlight of a short trip to vail.

Snowmobiling close to Vail Our snowmobile tour was two hours and covered somewhere between 25 and 30 miles in the White River National Forest. We had a stop for hot chocolate, hot apple cider and cookies along the way. Very comfortable, they provide a snowsuit, boots and a helmet. Greg was our guide and kept us going at the right pace with speeds between 20 and 30 for the most part. And they have a track in this huge meadow where you can let loose. New vehicles on our tour, too.

Amazing Trip! My dad and his girlfriend came to visit, and we went on a half day tour with Vail Backcountry tours. Curtis was amazing! He was super knowledgeable and so much fun, We didn't get to see many views because it was pretty much white out conditions all afternoon, but that made it better in my opinion because there was probably 2 feet of fresh powder on all the trails. it was untouched and Curtis took us on some amazing trails out Muddy Pass. We had such an amazing time, I couldn't say enough how great everyone was!

The BEST Snowmobile Service Hospitality, service & safety was of the highest quality. My original thought was that the price was high. BUT, the Shuttle service from door-to-door, equipment included [Helmet, snowmobile, pants, boots] basically anything you may have forgotten lol, was well worth the price!! He not only made sure we were fully informed of all of the safety protocols and hand signals, but also helped our experience with GREAT energy, smiles, laughs and a welcoming spirit. Incredible family trip My family (8yr old and 14yr old) took an afternoon trip w Nathan and had a blast. Weather was perfect and the views were incredible. The yurt halfway through was right on time. Gave the kids a chance to warm up and have a snack. The woman working in the yurt couldn’t have been nicer. Would definitely recommend this for families looking for an adventure.

Vail snowmobile Awesome experience! They give you a chance to do your own lap and photoshoot time. There is also a stopover for drinks and snacks. Our guide Nathan is awesome.. highly recommend this.

Snowmobile tour A group of 5 friends did the tour at 8:30am on a Saturday. It was even better than we expected. The whole staff was really nice and the snow conditions were amazing. Whether you are looking for a safe and low key joy ride through the mountains, or trying to ride the throttle around some turns and on the track, this is the place to do it! We did the standard tour with grand touring ski doos, and next time we’ll probably do the high performance sleds. Greg was a great guide and when someone in our group got stuck in the powder twice, he was really nice and helped tow them out. Carrie was very responsive and helpful I’m getting everything scheduled too. The extra gear they have available for use was really nice too. I highly recommend this. It will be fun for everyone involved.

Safe and exciting Greg, our guide, was super chill and definitely enjoyed letting us open it up and have fun. He is super safe but also let’s you have some fun. Very knowledgeable about the area and history. We have done many trips in Breck and Park City but this one is hands down our favorite!

5 Star Experience! My family was in town for the recent holiday and had such a great time on our tour with Drew! The weather was beautiful and the views from the tour are amazing! We loved the stop at the yurt - what a cool way to experience the backcountry. We will definitely be back on a tour next time we are in town!

Amazing Views! Pick up from Lionshead was timely, short drive to the base camp and quickly geared up.
Staff ready to assist in any way possible. Greg was our guide and gave a quick tutorial of the new Ski Do equipment. Easy start and up the mountain we went. Heated handle bars were a luxury, and I mean heated, bring thick gloves. The snow mobiles handled perfectly, easy to maneuver. The day was sunny, 35 degrees, and the sky was clear. We had a great group, all very good drivers which makes the trip even better. Greg was great at hand singles and took us to the meadow area with a track for going a little crazy. Greg gave us advice, let us run the track several times then back out on the trails. We stopped at two great photo spots, Greg took family photos and gave us general information about the area and view. The trails we fun, varying degree of difficulty and straight aways plenty to give it full gas. Lunch in the Yurt was really tasty, the butternut squash soup my favorite, others in my group liked the bbq and mac and cheese. Hot drinks a little rest and back down the mountain. A great trip, we all loved the adventure and Greg was a great guide! This is a must do if you are looking for a fun family break from skiing. More

Great Family Activity! Totally 5 star worthy!! From the booking procedure to the 2 hour tour, the entire experience was amazing! The staff was so helpful, accommodating and nice! Our daughter just turned 6 and she had the best time ever on this tour. The views are simply jaw dropping. You feel at one with Mother Nature.

Great Date Idea My husband and I had a great time on our tour with Vail Backcountry. Nathan was an awesome guide and made sure everyone was comfortable and having fun! Best Excursion in Vail, CO! I visited Vail Backcountry Tours on Christmas 2019, and it was one of the most exciting things I’ve ever done! We had an awesome tour guide named Greg who made our group laugh the entire time. He was great/safe with the kids in our group, but also kept up an exciting speed for the more daring snow mobilers. He also took us off the beaten path onto single trails that cut through the beautiful alpine forest. Definitely ask for GREG, he’s the best! In the middle of your excursion, the guide takes the group to a “yurt” that’s warm and full of snacks and drinks like coffee and hot coco. I can’t recommend this trip enough! It’s a must-do for anyone vacationing in Vail or the surrounding mountains.

Snowmobiling experience This was mine and my boyfriends first time in Vail but also on snowmobiles. I have to say this was easily my favorite activity on the entire trip from start to finish. They make things incredibly easy by picking you up at the hotel and taking you to the trail where the snow mobiles await your ride. Each trip is different with the trails you’ll take but the scenery is breath taking; felt like I was in a winter wonderland. Nathan made our entire trip! He allowed us time to ride on a circular track and showed us the most scenic backgrounds for photos. We also got lucky enough to come across 2 moose during our travels. If you are going to book snow mobiles during your time in Vail use this company. You can’t go wrong. Thank you Nathan for an unforgettable experience.

Fun snowmobile trip My first time snowmobiling and I had a great time! The weather was perfect, our guide Nathan was awesome, and the views were fantastic. My only suggestion would be to slow down, especially when riding through scenic forests. It seemed like everyone wanted to go as fast as possible which was fun to a point, but grueling when it was all the time. Still, I had a fun time and would recommend them to anyone.

Fantastic snow mobile tour Great family activity for non-skiers! Tons of fun with a variety of trails and a solid 2 hours of riding. Nathan was an awesome guide who knows how to keep everyone safe and comes across as an expert. Nathan picked us up promptly at the Westin Beavercreek and dropped us off after the tour, cost included in the tour so no extra fees here. They also offer flexibility on the dropoff in case you want to go somewhere else after the tour! Boots and jackets included in the tour, goggles rent for $10 but all equipment is in great shape and the team helps to ensure everyone has the right stuff before takeoff. Great job to the entire staff, will definitely return!

The best tour for all riders! My wife and I went out on Saturday with a really nice group of people. A younger family and a couple other couples. Had a FANTASTIC day with Nathan. I had done a different tour several years before, but my wife was a first timer. The trails were well maintained and easy to ride, the sites were beautiful and we had the chance to "open it up" a little on the track they have. Our guide was extremely helpful and patient with all, making sure we each enjoyed the day. The LUNCH was way more than we expected. Not your average boxed lunch, much closer to a gourmet meal in the middle of the mountains. Highly recommend you checking Vail Backcountry Tours out!

Awesome snowmobile tour We took the 2 hour tour with Drew and had an awesome time! Plenty of scenery, breaks to take photos, and even got to race on their track. We took a break midway through the tour in their yurt for cocoa/cider and treats. They provided boots, helmets and outerwear. Make sure to bring your goggles and gloves (even though the handle bars are heated). They picked us up at the hotel and returned us so very convenient. Well worth the price and would highly recommend them!

Superb family 2 hours tour My husband called before booking and the lady was very friendly in answering all his questions. I was a bit apprehensive as we were traveling our three and a half year old. All of our questions were answered and this adventure was one of the very best our family experienced. David our tour guide was absolutely phenomenal, very kind, courteous, and mindful of the team assigned to him. He gave us a lot of history background during the trip and it was great for my oldest child who loves history.
We are looking forward to returning, God willing.

Family tour with Mark Boutin We've been on this tour before. It's always a great time and very beautiful. Today was our best one yet. Mark Boutin was our guide and he was awesome. He took the time to talk about different animal tracks we saw and types of wildlife in the mountains. He also showed us different landmarks and told stories about them. He clearly loves what he does and we had fun with him. The snowmobiles are brand new and very comfortable too. This company is by far the best out there.

Awesome Service! Our family spent Christmas in Vail this year and this was probably everyone's favorite part. We were a large group, so we took a private excursion. The equipment was incredible, brand new, beautiful snow mobiles with heated hand grips!! Our outing was in the late afternoon, so as we were heading back the sun was setting. What an incredible sunset and then the lights of Vail came on. Definitely a memorable evening and we will most definitely repeat next year!
